IBM has released a new report entitled "The Essential CIO: Insights from the Global Chief Information Officer Study." This 71-page report is based on face-to-face conversations with over 3,000 Chief Information Officers (CIOs) from 71 countries and in 18 industries.
The principal message in the report is that CIOs are now aligning their work with the company's strategic priorities. I am wondering whether independent schools are doing the same. My guess is that a few are, but many are not. Many are still playing catch-up in terms of infrastructure and related.
Based on their research and conversations, IBM has identified a "CIO mandate" which comprises four charges:
Refine business processes and enhance collaboration
Streamline operations and increase organizational effectiveness
Change the industry value chain through improved relationships
Radically innovate products, markets, business models
Questions for Schools
Question: how might independent schools move in this direction?
Philosophical Question: Do we believe it to be necessary?
